At least eight insurgents were killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan of Pakistan early Sunday, Pakistani media reported.

Pakistani intelligence officials speaking on condition of anonymity said that a US drone fired missiles and targeted a house in Dre Nishter village of North Waziristan.

The officials said the house was being used by militants loyal to commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur. Some foreigners were also among those killed in the strike, they said, but they did not say which nationalities.

A similar attack in the region last Tuesday killed five militants.

It comes the US has criticised Pakistan for failing to crack down on fighters who stage attacks in Afghanistan.
