Officials in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation say reconstruction of Kabul airport taxiway at the cost of $36 million will start next month

The Ministry's authorities also said that the $36 million cost of the project will be paid by the Japanese government.

The ministry added that Japan is also planning to install a solar energy power plant at Kabul airport that will meet the airport electricity requirement.

The cost for this power plant is estimated around $7 million.

"The Japanese government has pledged the rehabilitation of the taxiway and several parking areas for planes and I hope the work will start in the next one month," Raz Mohammad Elmi, the technical and operational deputy of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, told TOLOnews.

Meanwhile, the private airlines also think the reconstruction of Kabul airport taxiway is vital.

"The reconstruction of the taxiway by the Japanese government will be effective for Afghanistan's airlines and aviation companies, as well as for foreign airlines that travel to Afghanistan, since it will prevent the delay in flights," said the deputy of a private airline.

The Ministry of Transport and Aviation said Japan is also planning to start the project of Kabul airport master-plan.
