Iran's President has warned the European Union against subjecting his country to new sanctions and has said that he will retaliate swiftly Iranian President, Mahmud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that his country would act swiftly if its commercial shipping or aviation were subjected to inspection.
In a bid to curb Iran's nuclear enrichment activities, a UN Security Council resolution on June 9 imposed restrictions on Iranian shipping and other sectors.
Based on the new sanctions, countries would have the permission to inspect cargo ships heading to or from Iran.
Speaking at a conference, Mahmud Ahmadinejad said his country backs friendship and logical resolving of problems with the West rather than hostility.
The US and its allies are worried by Iran's progress, Iran's President further said.
It's the fourth time that Iran, the world's fifth largest oil producer, comes under sanctions by the European Union.
