Iraqi officials on Tuesday said that at least 11 people were killed in Sadr city of the capital Baghdad.

The first attack targeted an early morning gathering of day labourers in Baghdad's Sadr City, eight were killed and more than 20 were wounded, Iraq police said.

Minutes later, an explosives-packed car blew up near a pastry shop in the same district, killing three civilians and wounding more than 25 others, police added.

Hospital officials in Baghdad confirmed the death toll.

Violence recently increased in Iraq after the United States pulled out its troop from the country.
