President Ashraf Ghani has approved Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Monday.

After approving Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation, President Ghani appointed Engineer Mohammad Dawood as the new governor for Balkh.

Jamiat-e-Islami Party of Afghanistan (Islamic Society of Afghanistan) on Monday condemned the Presidential Palace’s decision to approve the resignation of Noor.

Acting foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani, leader of the Jamiat-e- Islami Party of Afghanistan, who had gone to Greece on a formal visit and was expected to visit Denmark, abandoned his trip halfway because of the tensions between the Jamiat-e-Islami party and the presidential palace. He has returned to the country.
