Five Civilians Wounded in Kabul Suicide Attack

A suicide car bomber targeted a Danish troops convoy in Kabul's PD5 on Sunday morning wounding at least five civilians, security officials confirmed.

The Afghan National Police Academy and other key government institutions are located in the area.

Eyewitnesses also confirmed the suicide bomber targeted a foreign forces’ convoy.

However, officials have not yet confirmed whether any of the troops were wounded.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

The bomber targeted a convoy of Danish troops in PD5 of the capital city which connects the center of the capital to Qargha Lake, a popular picnic area.

“We heard a loud explosion and rushed to the scene and saw many cars destroyed, I saw a small boy and a cigarette seller lying on the ground,” said one eyewitness Wahidullah Khogyani.

The security forces cordoned off the area and the road following the explosion.

“There is the possibility that some of the houses near to the scene were damaged, also the glass in windows in many houses broke,” said another witness Abdul Rahman.

The security forces have however beefed up security on the roads across the city during the holy month of Muharram.

Following the announcement of new war strategy by US President Donald Trump, foreign forces have also increased their patrols in the cities.
