Dozens of manuscripts prepared by the Afghan calligraphers will be put on exhibition in the Turkish city of Istanbul in next week, Turkish officials Herat said on Thursday.
During the exhibition, the Afghan calligraphers will also hold discussions with the Turkish calligraphers.
According to the Turkish officials, a symposium will also assess the relationship of King Amanullah Khan with Turkey.
The manuscripts which are to be displayed in the exhibition will reflect the poems by famous Persian poets Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī, Bedil and calligraphy of verses of the Holy Quran.
“We will employ all resources to protect this sacred art in Afghanistan,” said Ali Arghanon, head of the Turkish coordinating office in Herat.
Five calligraphers from Herat are expected to display their work.
“The portraits which have been selected, reflect the special Herat style of calligraphy,” said Mirwali Ahmad Sabri, member of Herat calligraphers’ association.
“We will display over ten works in the exhibition. They show Suls writings (a form of Persian calligraphy),” said Abdul Jalil Tawana, member of the Herat calligraphers’ association.
The chairman of Herat calligraphers said that the exhibition will help Afghan artists and calligraphers to introduce their works to the world.
Seven Afghan calligraphers will display their manuscripts in the exhibition alongside the work of eight calligraphers from Turkey.
