Noor Warns of Daesh Movements In North

The executive director of Jamiat-e-Islami party and ousted Balkh governor, Atta Mohammad Noor, on Monday expressed his grave concern over the Daesh expansion in the north of the country and warned of the group’s movements in rest of the country.

Addressing a gathering in Balkh province, Noor told residents of north and north-east provinces that Daesh’s activities are terrible. He said the increase in the group’s activities in the country is worrying.

“Daesh militants who were yesterday fighting in Syria and Iraq, have today arrived in Qush Tapa and Darzab (two districts in Jawzjan province). Daesh militants who were yesterday fighting in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon under the name of different groups, have today arrived in Badakhshan’s Khostak valley, the jungles of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz and dozens of other places,” said Noor.

Noor went on saying the leadership of the security departments has been unable to handle Daesh, adding that Afghan soldiers and forces are sacrificing their lives to protect Afghan soil and appreciated their sacrifices.

“Except our brave soldiers who fight on the battlefields and sacrifice their lives, what have those people who are sitting in chairs and issuing commands from behind protected walls and from armored vehicles done? Today lots of equipment of security forces are in hands of the enemies,” Noor added.

Spokesman of the Afghan National Army 209 Shaheen Military Corps Headquarters in Balkh, Nusratullah Jamshidi, said they are doing enough to defeat Daesh in the north of Afghanistan.

“We have launched many air operations on the group in Darzab district in Jawzjan and they suffered fatalities,” Jamshidi said.

As the tensions between president Ashraf Ghani and Noor continues over the approval of Noor resignation by the president, the Council of Jihadi Leaders and Political Parties urged Ghani and Noor not to adopt stances which will damage the rule of law, national unity and the government.

The council members asked both sides to resolve their disagreements through talks and emphasized that government should come on board with the political streams by means of positive interactions.

“We want the government, the president and chief executive officer as law supporters, to stay firm in implementing the law,” Sayed Hamid Gailani, chairman of Mahaz-e-Milli party said.

Gailani representing the Council of Jihadi Leaders and Political Parties said the delay in holding the parliamentary election is worrying and it shows that the election commission is not capable of carrying out the efforts on time.
