Taliban’s Shadow District Governor Killed In Wardak Airstrike

Taliban’s shadow district governor for Chak district of Wardak province was killed during an Afghan air strike on Tuesday, Wardak police said Wednesday.

Wardak police said that Mawlavi Abdul Raziq Sorgul, along with four of his companions, were killed in Dahan-e-Sebak village in Chak district.

“Taliban’s shadow district governor for Chak district of Wardak province was targeted in an airstrike when they were planning to carry out anti-government activities,” said police spokesman Naqib Amini.

Amini said that airstrikes have been intensified after American troops moved in to the district; in the past month at least 30 insurgents have been killed and wounded, but Taliban denies these claims.

Taliban did not comment on the airstrike.
