Artworks At Balkh Exhibition Evoke Thought In Viewers

Almost 45 girls from three provinces in the north of Afghanistan created paintings with the abstract art style and displayed their artworks at an exhibition in Mazar-e-Sharif City on Friday.

Most of the viewers were college students and the youth from Balkh.

The exhibition was held to encourage youths to move towards creativity and explore their thoughts in an independent way.

“One of our main goals is to promote the abstract art among the young generation,” said Abdul Ghafoor Abram, an organizer of the exhibition.

The girls were from Samangan, Jawzjan and Balkh provinces, he said.

The girls said they have tried to explore problems in their society by their artworks and also to give a message of peace to the world.

“By our paintings, my message is that all Afghan women want and overall peace in Afghanistan,” said Muska, a student.

“Our paintings have the context that there should be someone who opens the door of peace to the Afghan people,” said Saadiya, another participant of the exhibition.

Diyana, another participant, said she is was trained in the abstract art for one year.

“My artworks are about peace and a hope for the future,” she said.

The viewers at the exhibition who were mostly youths said they welcome the move by the art group.

“Such moves are giving encouragement to girls and women to move forward in their social life,” said Sajjad, a resident of Balkh.

“Such exhibitions are good opportunities for girls who are able to have a strong role in the society,” said Masih, a student.
