Aryana Sings For Disabled Soldiers Ahead Of Invictus Games

Well-known female singer Aryana Sayeed on Saturday performed for the soldiers who will represent Afghanistan in this year’s Invictus Games in Canada.

The move was to encourage the 11 Afghan National Army soldiers who will attend the Invictus Games.

The soldiers clapped and sang along to songs sung by Aryana at the event.

“You have sacrificed your lives and your bodies for us to ensure our safety. Today, it is our duty to support you,” Aryana told the soldiers.

The head of the Army’s training center, Mohammad Amin Wahidi, said the games will be held next week.

“They have served with courage, they have exercised with courage and have attended the (selection) competitions. Those whom you see here have found the honor to represent Afghanistan at Invictus Games in Canada,” he said.

“Seventeen countries including Afghanistan will attend the event. There are 550 athletes and 12 sporting codes at the (Invictus) Games,” said Saeed Mirzaee, an army officer at the training center.

Abdul Hannan, who lost both his legs in an explosion during an operation to retake the Kunduz city in 2015, said he is excited about having the chance to attend the competition.

“We have 17 sports and those who have confidence in their talent, they can take part in the competition,” he said.

The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event for armed services personnel which will be held in Canada.

The Afghan National Army soldiers have attended the Invictus Games two times before this.
