Historical Sites In Khost “On The Verge Of Destruction”

The provincial information and culture chief Mohammad Amin Shah Ulfat said many historical sites in Khost province – in Afghanistan’s east - are on the verge of destruction.

He said some of the historical sites have changed into ruins, adding that government has started the rehabilitation of a number of them.

“After repeated recommendations from the central government, a technical team was sent to the province which surveyed many historical sites in Khost. We hope that government will allocated budget for rehabilitation of other historical sites in the province,” Ulfat told TOLOnews.

Khost residents meanwhile urged government to take serious measure for reconstruction and maintenance of the historical sites.

“Rehabilitation of the historical sites will remember the antient people who lived here. We are excited about the rehabilitation of this site today,” said Abdullah, a resident of Khost.

“We hope that historical sites are rehabilitated and maintained in Khost province,” said Mohammad Azam, a resident of the province.

Dad Mohammad Shrine, Kekarak Baba, Kakar Aba, Tapa-e-Hesar, Karawan Sarai and Qala-e-Ghazi Babrak Khan are among the most famous historical sites in the province.
