The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place at The Beverly Hilton in California on Sunday night and Hollywood’s anti-sexual harassment movement, now known as Time’s Up, was well represented.

The protest that turned the Globes dark on the fashion front had been anticipated for days after a call for massive reform following the downfall of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and numerous others accused of sexual misconduct in Hollywood, media, fashion, tech, publishing and other industries.

The new initiative Time's Up, backed by more than 300 women in Hollywood, doled out pins intended in part for those who might already have locked in more colourful looks.

Before the awards took place, a Hollywood actress Saoirse Ronan told reporters that she would be wearing black as a message to other women.

"It's a total message of solidarity and support, community within our industry and also letting women in other industries know that they have our support too,” she said, adding that "I'm bringing one of my best friends with me and she'll be wearing black also."

Their mission is to "call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere. From movie sets to farm fields to boardrooms alike, we envision nationwide leadership that reflects the world in which we live."
