Kabul Hosts Traditional Fashion Show

For the first time in decades, a modeling group - known as Baran Modeling Group - has been launched in Afghanistan.

The group which has 50 models organized a fashion show in Kabul on Thursday with dozens of models showcasing traditional Afghan clothes.

The show was attended by dozens of guests.

The group is owned by a woman Angela Naseri. She says the main purpose of the group is to move Afghanistan towards self-reliance in the production of dresses and in promoting traditional clothes in the country.

The group is expected to display some traditional bridal dresses in the near future.

“The show presents our own traditional dresses, they represent various ethnicities. Our next collections will be some bridal dresses or types of dresses which people wear for happy occasions,” said show organizer Angela Naseri.

Ahmad Mujtaba is one of the models who joined the group as a model. He is also a student, studying medicine.

“We hope that people warmly welcome us, because we wear our traditional dresses and present them in the show,” said Mujtaba.

“I want our Afghan traditional dresses to be promoted,” said a student from Kabul Asim.

“These types of programs in-fact support our culture and tradition,” said another student Atifa.
