Over 100 Companies Display Products In Kabul Exhibition

The Ministry of Commerce and Industries held the National Industry Celebration exhibition under the brand “It is Great, It is Made in Afghanistan”.

The three-day exhibition is aimed at introducing and finding markets for domestic products.

The ministry said that considering vital women’s role in the growth of the domestic product, the ministry plans to find good markets for the growth of domestic products.

More than 100 companies exhibited their products at the Kabul show.

Officials from Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines called on government to take steps to raise tariffs for similar products, because it will support domestic production.

“Appropriate measures are being taken by the government at top level to support domestic products, but the low-skilled government employees create hindrances. There is also wide-spread corruption that has to be prevented,” CEO of the chamber Sherbaz Kaminzada said.

Meanwhile, the deputy minister of Ministry of commerce and Industries for trade said the growth of domestic products will create jobs for the citizens of the country and the country's economy will grow.

She said close attention should be given to supporting domestic production.

“It is our obligation to support our private sector, especially with our national products and by increasing investment in our industry to create better job opportunities,” Siddiqi said.

Hafizullah Shojaee, a worker of the footwear industry, said domestic shoes are of good quality and that citizens of the country must use local products.

He asked government to support local investors by using their products.

“It is almost five years that I have been working in the shoe-making sector and the shoe industry has improved both from leather and quality perspective, but people think that our domestic products are of low quality,” said Shojaee.
Visitors of the exhibition said introducing of local products to citizens is crucial.

“Holding exhibiting can help boost domestic production, especially women's products,” said Akbar Rezai a participant.

Meanwhile, businessmen urged government to provide further opportunities for local products as this will bolster progress of the country's economy.
