GOFTMAN: World Teacher’s Day Discussed
Every year on this day, the Ministry of Education (MoE) celebrates World Teacher’s Day. It is also on this day that government makes a lot of promises to teachers, but never take practical steps to deliver on its promises.
This comes as the country continues to face challenge within the education sector, especially that of ghost teachers, ghost schools and ghost students.
After assuming office, President Ashraf Ghani pledged that during the first year of the national unity government, government would establish townships for teachers in every province. However government did not manage to complete its commitment.
In this episode of Goftman, host Partaw Naderi discusses the topic with the following guests:
• Sediq Patman, former deputy minister of education
• Abdul Jabbar Paiman, chairman teachers’ association
• Mujib Mehrdad, education ministry spokesman
• Ekram Afzali, chairman Integrity Watch Afghanistan.
