Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AHRC) and organizations defending human rights said on Wednesday the Mirza Olang massacre in Sayyad district of Sar-e-Pul province must be investigated and those behind the killings should be identified.

The human rights institutions said government is responsible for what happened in Mirza Olang, because despite the warnings, no action was taken to prevent the tragedy.

General John Nicholson, the commander of U.S and NATO forces in Afghanistan on Wednesday said winning the war in Afghanistan was crucial for the future of humanity as Afghan security forces continue to fight the insurgents in different fronts across the country.

He reaffirmed Washington’s enduring cooperation with the Afghan security forces in the campaign against terrorism in the country.
