Toryalai Abdyani, Paktia’s police chief who was killed in Tuesday’s deadly attack on the police headquarters in Gardez City was buried during an official ceremony in Kabul on Wednesday.

The ceremony was held in Shohadaye Salihin area in the capital and was attended by high-ranking officials including President Ashraf Ghani, the interior minister and the head of the Ulema Council.

Following Tuesday’s deadly attack on Gardez City’s police headquarters in Paktia province, concerns have been raised over the rising number of casualties among Afghan security forces.

In September alone, 480 Afghan army soldiers and almost 300 police force members were killed.
