After the Central Bank failed to extend the deadline for the exchange of damaged and defaced banknotes, a number of traders are refusing to deal with old notes. 

Many Kabul residents have said that there are still large amounts of defaced notes in circulation which is causing problems. 

Meanwhile the currency exchange market union in Kabul, (Sarai Shahzada) said that many traders have stopped accepting these notes.
