Gunmen Storm Peshawar Institute; Nine Dead

At least nine people have been killed after a group of gunmen attacked the Agricultural Training Institute in Peshawar City in Pakistan, media reports say.

The attack has been claimed by the Pakistani Taliban, the reports said.

Salahuddin Mehsud, inspector general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said 15 others were wounded in the attack, the Express Tribute reported.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Pakistani Taliban, claimed that it was not targeting the school, but a safe house belonging to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the same area.

The army's operation to regain control of the university took two hours.

Several people reportedly jumped from buildings to save their lives, sustaining fractures.

Reports indicate that there are usually 400 students on campus. On Friday, there were 150 students at the university.
