In the past sixteen years, the highest rates of violence against journalists were recorded in the first half of 2017.

The Afghan journalists safety committee says that 73 violent incidents have been recorded in the first six months of the year against journalists in the country, which is unprecedented.

Najib Sharifi, chairman of the committee, says that in the last sixteen years, there have been 679 incidents of violence against journalists in Afghanistan.
