A number of civil society activists have said that the illegal extraction of mines is creating challenges for the country, suggesting the new leadership of the ministry of mines and petroleum should tackle the issue.

They argue that besides the illegal extractions, in some parts of the country, some of the mines are run by local lawbreakers.
