NIMA ROOZ: Senators Question UN Report On Kandahar Police Chief

A number of lawmakers at Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of Parliament) on Sunday lent their support to Kandahar Police Chief General Abdul Raziq following a report by the United Nations Committee against Torture, calling Raziq a “patriotic and champion” police officer.

They called the report “vague and highly questionable”.

“The international human rights commission is monitoring all prisoners under the control of Afghan government across the country, but it is surprising that they raise the issue after so many years. I doubt the report and it is vague,” the Meshrano Jirga speaker Mohammad Alam Ezidyar said.

In this episode of Nima Rooz, host Maryam Sama discusses the topic with Bilal Sediqi, spokesman of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission.
