U.S Soldier Killed In Helmand

A U.S soldier was killed late Monday afternoon in the result of wounds sustained during an indirect fire attack in Helmand province, the U.S forces headquarters in Kabul said in a statement on Wednesday.

He was assigned to the 1st battalion, 36th infantry Regiment, 1st brigade combat team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss Texas, the press release said.

Two soldiers were also wounded in the attack, the press statement said. Their wounds are not considered life threatening and they are being treated at a coalition medical facility. 

“At the time when we remember the patriots who founded our nation in freedom, we are saddened by the loss of one of our comrades who was here protect our freedom at home,” said General John Nicholson Commander of U.S Forces in Afghanistan

“We will keep our thoughts and prayers as we reflect on the sacrifice he and others have made to secure our freedoms and help make Afghanistan a better place,” he added.
