Oman Beats Afghanistan 2-0 In Friendly Match

Oman beat Afghanistan 2-0 in their friendly on Wednesday night in Muscat.

Oman’s midfielder Mohsin Johar Al Khaldi and striker Said Al Ruzaiqi scored the goals for their team. 

Despite dominating the game, the Omanis failed to score a goal until minutes before half time. Mohsin Johar then came up with a stunning goal from close to the backline to put the home side ahead.

Oman continued to dominate in the second half and Said Al Ruzaiqi went on to double the score with an opportunistic goal.

Afghanistan will now leave Oman for Jordan where they are set to play the host country’s national team in an Asian Cup qualifier on September 9. 

Afghanistan is in Group C of the qualifier round and with one draw and one loss they are at the bottom of the table. 

Jordan is top of Group C. The top two teams from each of the six groups will qualify for the Asian Cup which is scheduled to be played in 2019.

Twelve teams - Australia, China, Iraq, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Thailand, Uzbekistan and UAE, have already qualified.
