In the past ten years Kabul has been the witness of positive and extraordinary development. You can see high buildings and new towns in different parts. The most modern and expensive cars with less urban facilities can be seen around the city.
Chaos Between City and Suburbs
According to estimated statistics, the population of Kabul city is growing over 5 million people day by day. Most of the population have come from rural areas most of them have lost their rural culture and have turned to law breaking groups.
Law Breaking Officials
The current disorders and crowded streets have been the main complaint of the residents. In other countries, traffic has serious and strict laws, but in our country most of the traffic laws are violated.
The question is who really creates disorder in the city?
The answer is obviously clear to everyone and it's very easy to identify the lawbreakers. The laws should be implemented on everyone but in our country this fact is not being practised. I waited at Asmayee road for a few minutes and I witnessed many people violating traffic rules and most of them were government officials starting from police officials to General Attorney and even the Vice President. This has become a symbol to ordinary residents. Is there any organisation to prosecute the lawbreaking officials?
Illegal and Non-standard Buildings
Currently more than 7 to 8 hundred thousand cars are commuting around the city. According to statistics around 7,000 cars are parked on the edges of the streets due to lack of enough and suitable parking lots.
One of the main causes of disorder in the city is lack of parking lots. This is when the government can find a lot of benefit if parking lots are available. If there is standard parking lots and the government charges each car 50 Afghanis, the incomes will be more than
3 millions.
Lowbrow Millionaires
Due to the change in the situation, lives of most of the Afghan people have changed. The changes which have been sudden and unusual to most of them. During the past decade many people gained a lot of money and built modern buildings, most of whom have invested a lot money in different sectors, but it seems that most of the people don't have the culture of a wealthy life.
Modernity vs Traditional Ideologies
During the current regime major improvements have been made and more than 60 billion dollars have been spent in development sector of the country but our country still seems to have made less improvements considering the modernity of the 21st century.
While most of the modern technologies have been seen in the country but the ideologies of using these technologies have been more traditional.
Afghanistan has a long way to go to merge current ideologies with traditional ideologies. But it seems far from being realised.
