A total of 17 people were killed, 7 hurt and 2 others went missing in heavy floods in eastern and central parts of Afghanistan on Wednesday

At least 15 people were killed and 7 more injured in heavy floods in the eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday.

"In floods in Haska Mina, Pachiragam, Momand Dara, Ghanikhil and Spinghar districts, 15 people were killed and 7 others were wounded," Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, a spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar told TOLOnews reporter.

The floods have destroyed thousands of acres of agricultural lands, he added.

Meanwhile 2 people were killed and hundreds of houses were destroyed in floods on Wednesday in the Afghan capital Kabul.

Locals say they have received no aid from the government so far.
Also two children have disappeared in heavy floods in the central Logar province that borders Kabul in the south.

Floods have destroyed dozens of houses and hundreds of acres of land, Din Mohammad Darwish, a spokesman for the governor of Logar, told TOLOnews.

Recent floods in Afghanistan's eastern and central provinces have caused heavy casualties and have destroyed thousands of houses.

In the past one month, more than 100 people have died of heavy floods, thousands have been displaced and thousands of acres of agricultural lands have been destroyed throughout the country.
