
The sub-governor of Lalpoor, a district in the eastern Nangarhar province was killed in a bomb explosion and four of his bodyguards were wounded on Monday morning
"The incident happened at 9:30 this morning near the Qasr-e-Shahi area in Nangarhar province when the vehicle of Sayed Ahmad Pahlawan, the sub-governor of Lalpoor was passing by," Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, a spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar told TOLOnews reporter.
The bomb that was placed in Mr Abdulzai's car also wounded three of his bodyguards, he added.
"Sayed Ahmad Pahlawan was killed in a suicide attack and four of his bodyguards were wounded," Ismatullah Ibrahim, the Police Garrison Chief of Nangarhar, told TOLOnews reporter.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban told media that the Taliban carried out the attack, and added that the sub-governor along with his four bodyguards were killed in the incident.
Unknown gunmen had abducted the sub-governor of Sawki, a district in the eastern Kunar province, along with his 23-year-old son a week ago.
The 50-year-old Nabi was abducted with his son on his way to the office.
The Police Chief of Kunar, Khalilullah Ziayee, had said an investigation was underway, but there is no news of Nabi so far.
