Taliban militants attacked a supply convoy of foreign forces and put two tankers on fire in Central Afghanistan on Sunday

"Taliban attacked a supply convoy of foreign forces in Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak province and set fire to two of their containers," Shahidullah Shahid, a spokesman for the governor of Maidan Wardak told TOLOnews reporter.

Afghan and coalition forces started operations in the area following the attack, and arrested 15 Taliban militants along with some ammunition.

Taliban claim that they have killed three police soldiers in the attack and have set fire to 20 NATO supply containers.

This is the third insurgency attack on foreign forces' supply convoys in the past one week.

Insurgents had attacked a convoy of foreign forces in Logar, a province that borders Maidan Wardak province, and put two containers on fire six days ago.

Taliban re-attacked when police forces arrived to the area, in which two police soldiers were wounded.

Insurgency attacks on NATO supply convoys have recently increased in the country's volatile regions.
