Taliban killed a tribal elder in the central Logar province Wednesday night while they were planting a mine near his house

The incident happened when Taliban militants were trying to plant a mine near the house of Mohammad Nasim, a 55- year-old tribal elder in the province's Baraki Barak district, local officials said.

Nasim was killed when he tried to stop them, officials added.

In another report, two police were wounded when their car was hit by a road-side mine blast in the district's Baraki Rajan village, Mohammad Rahim Amin, the sub-governor of Baraki Barak district in Logar, told TOLOnews.

Road-side mines are an easy tool for insurgents to target Afghan and coalition forces, in which civilians are the main victims.

The report comes after unknown gunmen shot dead three High Court judges on Kabul-Logar highway and wounded 12 others on Tuesday.
