Russian envoy to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said on Wednesday that UN must rule out military interventions in Syria, Reuters reported.

The 11 months of violence in Syria claimed the lives of thousands of people, as the military forces are stepping operations against oppositions strongholds across the country.

The Arab and Western states urged the UN Security Council on Tuesday to act swiftly on a resolution calling on Assad to delegate powers to his deputy and defuse the 11 month-old uprising.

Meanwhile, Russia has warned that it will veto the resolution if it doesn't precisely reject the armed intervention.

The Arab monitors asked the UN Security Council to take immediate action and protect civilians in Syria.
