The Faizabad Volleyball Team won the Badakhshan Volleyball Tournament in the final match of the competition on Friday.

Sixteen teams including 10 squads from the provincial capital, Faizabad city, and other teams from Keshm, Argo, Khash and Baharak districts of the province participated at the event.

Jurm district’s volleyball team and a volleyball squad from Baharak district got the second and third positions respectively.

Officials from volleyball federation in Badakhshan said the tournament was held to improve volleyball and recognize best players from the province.

“The tournament was held to find best players and we did so. We selected best players and we want to send the selected team to provincial volleyball competitions,” said Mohammad Naziri, head of volleyball federation in Badakhshan.

Volleyball players in Badakhshan said they want the competitions in provinces level in order to explore their talent.

“The competition which was held between volleyball teams from Faizabad city and Badakhshan districts was aimed at recognizing new athletes to join the Team A of Badakhshan and represent the province in other events in zonal level,” said Hefazullah Fefaz, a volleyball player.

“We can show more talent in other competition out of this province, even in the capital city, Kabul, if we are supported,” said Mohammad Haroon, an athlete.

The tournament continued for 10 days and was welcomed by thousands of volleyball fans.
