Afghan U19 Cricket Team Beats Malaysia in WC Qualifiers

Afghanistan’s national under-19 cricket team annihilated Malaysia on Monday in their first U19 World Cup qualifying match.

After winning the toss, Malaysia chose to bat. However, the Afghan bowlers played superbly and sent all Malaysian batsmen to the pavilion by the end of the 21st over.

Malaysia scored only 53 runs. Malaysia’s Wandap Singh scored the highest with just 19 runs.

Afghan bowler Yusuf Zazai bowled extremely well and took four wickets.

For Afghanistan, the paltry 54 runs needed was an easy target which they reached, after losing just two wickets, in the sixth over.

Darwish Rasuli of Afghanistan scored 32 runs. Malaysia’s Sayed Aziz got the two wickets.

“We were well prepared and used our abilities and defeated the Malaysian team; I hope that InshaAllah we will get good results from these games and make it to the World Cup,” said Nawin-ul-Haq, the U19 captain.

“InshaAllah the boys are fully prepared; today we succeeded to get a good result but we still need people’s prayers,” said team member Darwish Rasuli.

“I am very happy that we won the first match; I was also declared man of the match; I ask you to pray for us to get good results so we can go to the World Cup,” said team member Yusuf Zazai.

Yusuz Zazai declared man of the match.
