ACB Announces Appointment Of Ex-West Indies Coach

Afghanistan Cricket Board on Wednesday announced the appointment of former West Indies head coach, Phillip Simmons, as the national team’s new consulting coach.

According to Farid Hotak, ACB’s spokesman, Simmons will be assisting the current head coach on technical issues.

Hotak said Simmons has tremendous experience in team management and has immense technical expertise.

“The ACB management considers Simmons appointment a valuable step in players’ capacity development. His appointment will have a great impact on team performance.”  

Simmons’ cricket career has spanned more than 20 years.

He played for a number of first-class sides in the West Indies and England as well as international cricket for the West Indian cricket team.

Simmons has been head coach over the years for West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
