ACB Names U-23 Team For ACC Emerging Cup

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Wednesday announced the names of the cricketers who will take part in the U-23 Asia Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Cup 2017 tournament which will be held later this month in Bangladesh.

According to ACB officials, the team has already left Kabul for India where they will attend a pre-tournament training camp.

The tournament will start on March 25 and run through to April 3. Four associate member nations, Afghanistan, Nepal, Hong Kong and Malaysia, and four full member countries, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, will compete.

The Afghan team will be accompanied by a number of national team cricketers who are currently playing an ODI series against Ireland in India.

The 18 players selected for the tournament are as follows:

Usman Ghani, Ehsan Jannat, Shahid Kamal, Younus Ahmadzai, Sami Shinwari, Shafiqullah Shafaq, Munir Ahmad, Najib Zadran, Gulbuddin Nayib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Naveen-ul-Haq, Aftab Alam, Fazal Niazai, Farid Ahmad, and Zia Akbar, while Nawaz Khan, Khyber Omar and Wahid Shafaq are reserve players.
