Beach Football Team Suffers First Defeat in AFC Championship

Afghanistan’s Football Team suffered its first defeat at the hands of Iran in the 2017 AFC Beach Soccer Championship in Malaysia.

In Monday’s match Afghanistan was defeated by Iran 6-1 in Group A of the competition.

Raof Qaderi, scored the only goal for Afghanistan’s before Iranian captain Mohammad Ahmadzadeh missed a penalty awarded after Afghanistan skipper Zainuddin Sharifi was red-carded for a hard tackle.

Afghanistan earlier defeated Malaysia and China in its group matches and will now face Bahrain on Tuesday on its last group match.

The top three finishers at the AFC Beach Soccer Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in in Nassau, Bahamas from April 27 to May 7.
