Afghan Judo Team Determined to Win Titles at Islamic Solidarity

Afghanistan’s national judo team is preparing for a powerful presence at the Islamic Solidarity Games which is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan within the next couple of months.

Judo athletes have been continuing their training for the upcoming event over the past two weeks. Azerbaijan is expected to host Islamic Solidary Games 2017 within two months.

“We have always strived to identify the best athletes from all over the country and include them in the structure of the national teams and send them for international events. This time our team is quite strong and we hope that the outcomes will be satisfactory,” said Zabiullah Nazari, head of Judo Federation.

“I was selected from amongst the best judo athletes of Afghanistan to participate in the Islamic countries' games. We started our exercises a week ago because we have to present our country at the games in the best way,” said a member of the national team Wahidullah Yousufzai.

A total of180 athletes from the Islamic countries will be representing their countries in the Islamic Solidary Games in Azerbaijan. The games will include sixteen sports. Six Afghan judo athletes, including a female judo athlete, will represent Afghanistan at the games.
