Among Afghanistan's three Olympic contestants taking part at this year's Games in Rio is Kimia Yusufi.

The 21-year-old athlete will take part in the women's 100 meters and 200 meters race.

She was born an Afghan refugee in Mashhad city in Iran and returned to the country three years ago with the dream of making her people proud.

She qualified for the Olympic Games a few months ago by running the 200 meters in 20.30 seconds.

She has run for Afghanistan at two international track events – one in Iran in the Fajr Cup and another at the South Asian Games in India.

Yusufi says she learned the basics of running from her coach Prima Ahmadi, an Afghan athlete that lives in Iran.

She said her mother was her main inspiration and her biggest fan. She said for this she is very grateful.

She said her aim and slogan is to bring pride to the country and achieve lots of victories during her sporting career.
