First RAPL Match Of Season Ends In Draw

The Roshan Afghan Premier League 2016 kicked off to an exhilarating start Thursday when defending champions De Spinghar Bazan took on Simorgh Alborz at the Ghazi Stadium in Kabul.

The match ended in a two all draw.

Both teams gave it their best but failed to score in the second half.

Ghulam Fayaz and Hussain Reza scored for Simorgh Alborz while Shafiq Ayoubi and Ghulam Hazrat Naizi scored for De Spinghar Bazan.

The match followed an exciting opening ceremony that drew thousands of fans.

According to match officials, this year's teams have worked hard to get this far.

"All teams are well-prepared; they have worked hard to become the next champions. We have also strived hard on our part and will not let anyone else get the title," said Wali Jan, coach of De Spinghar Bazan.

"This year, teams are very strong, nearly 70 percent are youths, we want to invite new faces to the national team," said Yousaf Kargar, deputy head of Afghanistan Football Federation.

The next match will played on Friday between Shaheen Asmayee and Toofan Harirod.

Kick-off is at 4pm and will be broadcast live by TOLO TV and Lemar.
