Suicide Bomber Targets Shrine in Pakistan, Killing 13

At least 13 people were killed and eight injured in a suicide blast at a shrine in Balochistan's Jhal Magsi area, local officials said on Thursday.

According to police, the suicide attacker tried to enter the shrine but blew himself up when he was stopped by police.

Security forces reached the scene and condoned off the area after the incident.

The local administration declared an emergency at hospitals in Sibbi and Dera Murad Jamali.

The shrine is located four kilometres away from the city.

Pakistan has been battling the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups since 2007. Violence has dropped significantly in the past three years, since the launch of a military operation to evict those groups from sanctuaries in the volatile northwestern tribal districts.
