At least 43 staff members of a road construction company were kidnapped after a group of gunmen attacked their office in Kandahar province, the provincial governor's spokesman Daud Ahmadi told TOLOnews.
He said the incident took place in Spin Boldak district in Kandahar on Thursday evening.
Those who were kidnapped include 20 security guards and 23 technical staff and workers of the company.
He added that the company is working on construction of Spin Boldak-Shorabak road and its employees were attacked in Sra Sahan and Barmo areas.
According to him, the road construction company is a local firm.
He said armed men clashed with government forces after they attempted to abduct the staff members of the company.
In this attack, he said, four Afghan Border Police force members were killed.
Ahmadi said the armed men set on fire equipment of the company after attacking its employees.
