162 Insurgents Killed Across The Country: MoD

Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed in a statement on Saturday that at least 162 armed insurgents were killed in the past 24 hours in Afghan security forces’ operations in the country. 

According to the MoD’s statement at least 66 other insurgents were wounded and one other arrested. 

The statement said that seven Taliban commanders were also among the insurgents killed. 

The ministry said that the Afghan security and defense forces conducted 11 joint operations and 19 airstrikes against the insurgents in the country. 

The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Urozgan, Zabul, Kandahar, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Kunduz, Balkh, Badakhshan and Helmand province, the statement read. 

During the operations insurgent hideouts and weapons were destroyed, the MoD said. 

The statement did not provide information regarding casualties of security forces or civilians.
