At least 27 Taliban were killed in two airstrikes in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province on Tuesday night, local officials confirmed on Wednesday.
In addition, 13 other insurgents were wounded.
The airstrikes took place in two different parts of Nad Ali after the Taliban tried to attack security forces, district police chief Abdul Basir said.
However, he did not provide further details about the airstrike.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
