33 People Freed From Taliban Prison In Helmand

At least 33 people were rescued from a Taliban prison in Sangin district in the southern Helmand province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Friday. 

The operation was conducted by Afghan Special Forces on Thursday, the statement added. 

According to the statement, among those freed were three members of the Afghan National Police, 29 Army soldiers, and one civilian. 

The statement said that the Taliban prison was destroyed after the rescue of the 33 people. 

This comes as 28 people were freed from a Taliban prison in southern Zabul province on Wednesday.
