At least eight people were killed and 25 wounded after a magnetic IED was detonated against a fuel tanker in Charikar city in Parwan province. 

Khalil Mosadeq, the provincial health chief, confirmed the casualty toll.

Early reports indicated the explosive device was detonated when a passenger bus was alongside the tanker. 

According to police officials, at least 12 people wounded in the incident have been taken to Istiqlal Hospital in Kabul.

Hospital officials said six are in critical condition.  

The incident happened just after 7pm on Wednesday night.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
