A memorial ceremony was held Friday in Kabul to commemorate the 8th death anniversary of victims of a deadly suicide attack in Baghlan which killed nearly 80 people including five MPs, among them, Sayed Mustafa Kazemi, a prominent opposition leader in the Parliament.

The event was attended by many high-ranking government officials including CEO Abdullah Abdullah and his deputies, president's special representative for reform and good governance Ahmad Zia Massoud and a number of members of Parliament.

The participants of the gathering urged the government to follow the ideals of Kazemi – who among 78 others, including schoolchildren were killed in a suicide attack during the inaugural of a sugar factory in northern Baghlan in 2007.

Also present at the event was Kazemi's brother, Sayed Ali Kazemi, who blasted the previous and the current government for not investigating what he said the mysterious plot against his brother.

In addition, he accused government of ignoring the current challenges facing Afghanistan.

"Hundreds of young Afghans are fleeing insecurity and unemployment," Kazemi said. "Despite these problems, the dispute over distributing of government seats among ethnic groups remain high."

He asked the government to identify the elements behind assassination of public figures.

On his turn, Abdullah admitted the problems facing Afghanistan and stressed the need for unity to overcome the challenges.

"Before the formation of National Unity Government, people's expectations were too high. But due to time limit, we admit to the problems facing our nation," Abdullah said, calling on people to stay united against the challenges.

Meanwhile, some other speakers blamed the insecurity on Pakistan's intelligence agencies.

"I believe that Pakistan's ISI is behind the serial killings and the current problems of Afghanistan," former Afghan Ambassador to Spain Massoud Khalili said, calling Kazemi a great personality.
