Afghan, Indian NSAs Stress On Cooperation

President Ashraf Ghani’s National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib on Friday met his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval in New Delhi where they discussed issues around the Afghan peace and regional stability, the National Security Advisor’s office said in a statement. 

The two sides also discussed Afghanistan’s security situation, Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process, parliamentary elections and the upcoming presidential elections in the country, the statement said.

Mohib thanked India for its participation in Afghanistan’s infrastructure projects and providing trainings for Afghan Security and Defense Forces, the statement added.  

“Held productive meetings in India with my counterpart NSA Ajit Doval and other security officials on regional stability, the democratic progress and ongoing peace efforts in Afghanistan, and bilateral security cooperation,” Mohib tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Indian National Security Advisor reiterated that India will continue cooperation with Afghanistan, especially in areas including joint counterterrorism efforts, regional and economic cooperation as well as big infrastructural projects, the statement said. 

Afghanistan’s NSA invited his Indian counterpart to visit Kabul to expand cooperation and Doval accepted the invitation.
