The Attorney General’s Office said on Monday that investigation is ongoing on gun loss case involving 14 personnel of the Interior Ministry.

The office has received documents against 14 officials of the ministry over the loss of 105 AK-47 guns, 18 missiles, 80 mortars and 5,000 machine gun bullets.

Two of those accused employees have fled, two of them are in detention and 10 others have been released on bail, Attorney General’s Office spokesman Jamshid Rasuli told TOLOnews.

“Twelve people have been investigated in this regard. Two of the accused have fled and two of them are in detention. This case is under investigation in the Anti-Corruption Criminal Justice Center and the investigation will be completed in near future,” said Rasuli.

Sources meanwhile told TOLOnews that former deputy minister of interior for public protection is among the officials who is also involved in other corruption cases.

“Weapons are belonged to government. The issue should be investigated firmly. If some of them have fled, it shows government has committed negligence,” said Iqbal Safi, head of the Afghan parliament’s internal security commission.
