Disabled Teenager Is His Family’s Sole Breadwinner

Akram, an 18-year-old, who lost both arms in a bomb blast when he was eight years old, is now the only breadwinner of his 10-member family.

For Akram, the only way to earn a living however, is to beg on the streets.

His father suffers from mental health issues and some nights sleeps on the streets, said Akram.

Sadly, neither Akram nor his two sisters or five brothers are able to go to school – all are illiterate.

According to Akram’s mother, her son lost his arms when he touched an unexploded IED, which detonated.

Due to severe poverty the family lives in a tent in Kabul city.
