Dostum Leaves Kabul For Turkey To Seek Medical Treatment

The First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum left Afghanistan for Turkey on Friday for medical treatment.

A senior government official confirmed to TOLOnews that Dostum left for Turkey at around 8pm local time on Friday.

According to Dostum’s office, the first vice president will return to Afghanistan after undergoing medical tests.

Dostum reportedly noted before leaving that he was concerned about the current security situation in the country but said that he will stand by the people of Afghanistan no matter what happens.

According to sources close to Dostum, the first vice president was forced by close relatives to seek treatment in Turkey due to ill health.

This comes after months of controversy surrounding Dostum who was accused late last year of orchestrating the illegal detention and alleged sexual assault against rival Ahmad Ishchi.

Earlier this week, Attorney General Farid Hamidi said that the case was still under investigation and serious attention was being paid to it.
